Stephan Vermeersch (Belgium) has built an international reputation as a versatile performer-improviser-composer of classical, contemporary, world and electro-acoustic music, and he regularly collaborates with other cultures and art forms, including visual arts, dance, film, architecture, literature and theatre. He has participated as a soloist and chamber musician in concerts and festivals in more than 45 countries in Eastern and Western Europe, the Middle East, Russia, the USA, Canada and Asia. As a composer/improviser, his motto is: "What lies beyond the border; a search for new music for a broad audience". He is asked worldwide to give master classes and clinics and is an active teacher of clarinet, saxophone, chamber music and music writing in Belgium and the Netherlands
